Then President-elect, Bola Tinubu, with then Governor Nyesom Wike in Rivers State

Barrister Nysom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory on Tuesday, named the newly completed Southern Parkway Road in Abuja as “Bola Ahmed Tinubu Way” in honor of the President.

He announced in his address at the commissioning ceremony of the project which was awarded for construction in 2012 under President Goodluck Jonathan.

The naming of the road project comes as the President begins the commissioning of projects completed and executed by the Federal Capital Territory Administration.

During the event, Mr Tinubu hailed Minister Wike for his transformative efforts in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), describing his vision as revolutionary and inspiring.

Tinubu expressed his administration’s support for Wike’s initiatives, stating:

“I will not say that I am surprised. Barrister Nyesom Wike, Mr. Project, thank you for giving us this home and for your sincere commitment to shared values. Well done; as a team leader, you work so hard, tirelessly.”

He highlighted the importance of the road in easing traffic congestion, enhancing mobility, and promoting economic growth and national unity.

Also, Wike expressed his gratitude to Mr Tinubu, stressing the administration’s support in completing long-standing projects in the FCT.

He described the Southern Parkway as a crucial element of the Abuja Master Plan, aimed at providing access and connectivity to the city’s southern development flank.

“The Southern Parkway is one of the principal arteries conceived and planned as a freeway to provide access and connectivity to the southern development flank of the city as provided in the Abuja Master Plan,” Wike stated.

This newly named road symbolizes the collaborative efforts and shared vision for the development of the Federal Capital Territory.

The event not only marked the completion of a significant infrastructure project but also highlighted the continued efforts to enhance the capital city’s development and connectivity.
