When former Finance Minister, Ngozi Okonj0-Iweala, left the government of President Olusegun Obasanjo after the end of his term, she immediately left for the World Bank to continue her blossoming career.

Today, the same woman is Director General of the World Trade Organisation (WTO).

The same can be said of Segun Adesina who left the Goodluck Jonathan administration and is now head of the African Development Bank (AFDB).

Aruna Otteh, another Amazon, left the same government of former President Jonathan and went to become Vice President of the World Bank.

Same as Mrs. Oby Ezekwesili who left the Obasanjo administration and returned to the World Bank as the global body’s Vice President, African region.

Muhammad Sanusi, the now deposed Emir of Kano and Soludo’s successor at the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN was soon after his tenure at the bank appointed by Blackstone Group – one of the largest investment firms in the world with a portfolio of over $29.6 billion – to chair it Black Rhino Group, the portfolio arm of Blackstone.

He was to attract a 120MW solar plant to Kano, followed by two coal fired power plants of 500MW each.

Against the background of a seeming inability to secure any meaningful engagement for 12 years, our dear Professor appears to have finally transmogrified into a local politician.

Soludo, in 2010, was desperate to grab the gubernatorial ticket of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) using arm twist tactics. He lost.

In 2013, he tried his luck again, but this time he couldn’t make it beyond the first hurdle as he was screened out of the APGA primaries.

Four years later, in 2017, he returned as a fully clothed partisan and, looking the people of Anambra intently in the face, lied to them that the worst governor in the history of the state was, in fact, doing well.

Having been practically unemployed for the past 12 years, doing nothing expect politics, the nagging poser among the citizenry remains: On what experience would Soludo stand upon to cleanse the rot on the state imposed by his benefactor, Willie Obiano?
