What God told me about 2027 election – Ortom
By Agency Report
Mr Samuel Ortom, former governor of Benue State has declared that God has directed him not to contest in any poll come 2027.
Ortom said this during a courtesy visit by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) G-14 members on Tuesday in Makurdi.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that G-14 members are elders of the PDP in the 14 Tiv-speaking local government areas in Benue.
He admitted that he failed to consult God before contesting the 2023 election, which led to his defeat.
Ortom said, “I knew why I lost the election in 2023. I didn’t consult God. My people purchased the forms for me, and I accepted without seeking His guidance.” He emphasized that he now has no choice but to follow God’s wish.
Speaking further, he expressed his determination to support the PDP’s efforts to reclaim the Benue Government House in 2027.
Moreover, despite stepping away from electoral contests, Ortom assured that he would continue to contribute to the party’s success.
Also, Ortom spoke about the personal sacrifices he made while serving as governor, including prioritizing state matters over family and friends.
Though he initially planned to take a sabbatical after leaving office, party elders convinced him to remain engaged with the party’s activities.
Ortom’s decision marks a significant moment for the PDP as it strategizes for future elections in the state.
