VIDEO: Prof Nwokobia slams Soyinka over ‘OBIdients fascists’ name-calling
In the attached video, Prof. Chris Nwokobia, the spokesperson of the BigTent, the intellectual organ of the OBIdient Movement, has chided Nobel Laureate Prof. Wole Soyinka after he called the supporters of the Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Gregory Obi, popularly known as “OBIdients”, fascists.
Prof. Nwokobia made the remarks in his recent interview on Arise TV.
According to him, Prof. Soyinka left issues of ethnic profiling, voter suppression and dwelt on the comment by the Labour Party vice presidential candidate, Senator Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed.
Reacting to the interview, a News Band correspondent, Mr. Tai Obasi said that “Nwokobia spoke facts. He oozed reason. He exuded positive thinking.
“He showed admirable maturity despite extreme provocation of being branded a fascist by no less a person than the man he respected and still respects so much, Prof Wole Soyinka.”
He said amongst other things that “disobedience of an unjust law is the greatest respect to the law”, adding that “history is replete with facts and figures”.
According to him, Soyinka who went with a gun to stop the announcement of the winner of an election lacks the moral justification to tell OBIdients to accept a heavily flawed election without expressing their displeasure.
