Lebanese construction worker whose identity is not known has seen sighted with a notorious and wanted bandits’ commander, Mai-jakka who is said to be responsible for abductions, raping and killing of innocent civilians along Sokoto-Gusau road in Zamfara state.

Mr Mahdi Shehu, a public commentator and human rights advocate who expressed shock over the cordial relationship between the bandits’ kingpin and the Lebanese national whom he said is heading a road dualization project in zamfara state, queried the purpose of the multi-billion Naira drones acquired to fight against the criminal elements in the region.

Recall that Zamfara is one of states in the Northern region plagued by criminals who raid and loot villages, kill residents and burn houses to the ground.

The criminal elements who maintain camps in large forest in Katsina, Kaduna, and Niger states, have carried out mass abductions of students from schools in recent years.

In March, Dauda Lawal, governor of Zamfara, said the state is now the centre of banditry in northern Nigeria.

“There have been several attacks in some of the local government communities,” he said.

“I feel as a responsible governor, I should make this known to Mr. President, who is pleased with the discussion we had and we are looking for more military personnel as well as the equipment for them to be able to function effectively and take care of the security situation.

“Zamfara has become the centre of banditry as we speak today, and if nothing is done in Zamfara state, I don’t think we will be able to solve the situation in the entire northern Nigeria”.
