VIDEO: Lawyer calls on Nigerians to rise, stop Tinubu’s inauguration
An unidentified lawyer has called on Nigerians to rise and stop the “unconstitutional” inauguration of the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Alhaji Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The inauguration is billed to take place on Monday, May 29, 2023, in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
The call followed the failure of the judge to pass a verdict on the confusion surrounding the 25 per cent of votes of the presidential election held in the Federal Capital Territory in line with Section 134(2) of the Nigerian Constitution.
According to the Constitution, a presidential candidate can be sworn in only if he gathered at least 25 per cent of votes cast in 24 states of the federation, as well as the FCT.
Incidentally, however, Tinubu failed to grab the requisite number of votes in the FCT.
According to results released by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), only the Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Gregory Obi, met the requirement.
Hence, the Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, Peter Gregory Onwubuasi Obidragged Tinubu, INEC and other respondents to court for interpretation.
Unfortunately, the judge failed to show up for the judgement on the last working day before the inauguration.
The lawyer, therefore, called on Nigerians to rise and defend the constitution and ensure that Tinubu is not sworn in pending the determination of the suit.
