University unions applaud Governor Aliyu for exceptional commitment to staff welfare

Notably, they praised his approval of 25% and 35% increases for university employees, which align with nationwide directives.

Additionally, the unions recognized Governor Aliyu’s efforts in resolving long-standing allowance arrears and ensuring compliance with the N70,000 minimum wage policy. They emphasized that these financial interventions have alleviated economic pressures on workers. Beyond monetary support, the governor restored punctual payments for visiting lecturers and sabbatical staff, addressing previous delays. The unions also noted that timely accreditation by the NUC has enabled the introduction of new academic programs, expanding student opportunities.
