The Akwa Ibom State APC Governorship Candidate, Mr Umana Okon Umana [above], has dismissed as usual PDP fabrication, a story on Facebook and other social media platforms linking him to allegation of bribe against Justices of the Court of Appeal and Judges of the election petition tribunals in the state.

We want to state categorically that Umana has not issued any statement or spoken to any journalist or media organisation on the Appeal Court judgment or the ruling of the election petition tribunals.

The latest false publication, designed to smear Umana’s name, is the handiwork of the propaganda team of the Akwa Ibom State Government under the control of the state commissioner for information, Mr Aniekan Umanah.

Mr Umanah has been waging a relentless psychological warfare against the state APC and its Governorship Candidate in recent weeks using a string of false stories and distortions planted in the main stream and social media.

In the instant case of false publication, the Aniekan Umanah propaganda team has cited Engineer Kathlene Ekpenyong as the source of the false and libellous allegation against Mr Umana Okon Umana.

But Engineer Ekpenyong has denied ever posting or writing the false allegation.

Ekpenyong has also clarified that access to her mail account has not been breached, arguing that some mischief makers crudely attached her name to the blackmail against the APC Governorship Candidate.

For the avoidance of doubt, we want to state that the false allegation against Umana is a fabrication of the Akwa Ibom State Ministry of Information.

It did not emanate from the state APC or from its Governorship Candidate. Members of the public are therefore advised to disregard it.
