At least two persons were killed on Sunday night when suspected factional cult groups clashed.

The incident, according to a source, happened at the Gyado Villa area populated by students of Benue State University, Makurdi.

It was gathered that a group of young men suspected to be cult members were holding a meeting when another group of young men invaded the place and attacked them.

Confirming the incident, the State Command Public Relations Officer, SP Catherine Anene, said two people died as a result of the clash.

She said, “Some young men who were sitting at a spot were attacked by another set of young men around 8pm last night (Sunday).

“Two persons were confirmed dead and another one who was seriously injured is on admission.”

Anene said remains of the dead victims had been deposited at the mortuary while investigation into the matter was already ongoing.
