Customers of Globacom services in Nigeria have reasons to worry as the Federal Government has reportedly ordered demolition of Globacom telecommunication masts across the country over failure to renew its expired height clearance certificates.

This was contained in a recent letter by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) to Globacom Managing Director titled “Re: Illegal Erection Of High Structures And Refusal To Renew Expired Height Clearance Certificates By Globacom Limited“, signed by NCAA Legal Adviser/ Head Compliance and Enforcement, Mr. Emmanuel Dubem Chukwuma.

Mr. Chukwuma warned that the agency will carry out demolition of the masts without further notice to Globacom.

The demolition order was given to NCAA by the Presidency following series of alleged defaults by Globacom Nigeria Ltd.

News.band gathered that a presidential directives was given to all agencies and parastatals of government to go after all debtors and defaulters.

NCAA regretted that despite calling for an adjournment of a meeting to discuss the renewal of the expired height clearance certificates on three occasions, Globacom management failed to turn up for the last meeting on September 23.

Worse yet, the telecommunication giant did not provide any explanation over its absence at the scheduled meeting.

Mr. Chukwuma stated: “It is unfortunate that despite our concurrence to a further rescheduling of the meeting to a requested date, and so informing you through our letter of 13th September 2021, you failed to turn up for the meeting.

“The Director-General of the NCAA had to abort an official assignment in Europe and return to Nigeria, in order to be able to attend the meeting”.

NCAA warned that it will not honour any further request from Globacom for another meeting after the regrettable three previous meetings.

Presently, there is heightened apprehension among millions of Globacom subscribers over the fate of their mobile services should NCAA make good its threat.
