Transformer vandal electrocuted in Oyigbo

An unidentified man was, in the wee hours of Thursday, electrocuted while attempting to vandalise a transformer in Oyigbo local government area of Rivers State.

An eyewitness who spoke with NewsBand Newspaper said the deceased and members of his gang came to vandalise electrical wire installations from a transformer in a residential area popularly known as Happy Life Street when the incident happened.

According to the witness, the deceased was unlucky as light was restored by Port-Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company (PHED) at midnight while he was disconnecting the cables.

When NewsBand correspondent visited the scene of the incident, the lifeless body of the suspected vandal was seen lying close to the transformer with some of his working tools beside him.

Also, officials of the PHED were also seen with police operatives discussing on how to evacuate the body of the vandal to the morgue.
