A former presidential aide to former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan and Publisher of Point Blank News, Mr. Jackson Ude, has observed that the “brightest, most intelligent and most formidable” of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s camp have been silenced by the enormity of the revelations from Chicago State University (CSU), where Tinubu claimed he graduated from.

Mr. Ude made the remarks in a short memo posted on his X (formerly Twitter) handle, @jacksonpbn, on Thursday entitled “Bola Tinubu’s camp of silence“.

The former presidential aide counted Nasir El Rufai, Tunde Fashola, Kayode Fayemi, Femi Fani-Kayode, Dimeji Bankole, Abdulrahman Dambazau and others among those had hit by the revelations.

He wrote: “Have you noticed that the brightest, most intelligent and most formidable of BAT’s generals have kept quiet on this CSU issue and their silence speaks volumes.

“They include Nasir El Rufai, Tunde Fashola, Kashim Imam, Kayode Fayemi, Femi Fani-Kayode, Isa Pantami, Dimeji Bankole, Abdulrahman Dambazau, Bashir Lado, Sen. Mohammed Hassan, Abiodun Faleke and so many more.

“They cannot defend the indefensible.”

Ude noted that only the uninformed “low-lifes, dregs and urchins” in Tinubu’s team that are still talking.

He added: “It is only the low-lifes, dregs and urchins in his team and his Ministers that are talking. All the top guys including key members of his party are ashamed of him and have decided to put Nigeria first.”

What the Justices and the informed said

Respecting forgery and other vices, Retired Justice Sidi Dauda Bage of the Supreme Court once ruled that the apex court must not allow criminality and certificate forgery to line the corridors of the judicial system.

Justice Dauda Bage, in the case of SALEH v. ABAH & ORS (2017) LPELR-41914(SC), Pp. 26 – 31, Paras E – B, said:

“This Court must take the lead, in righting the wrongs in our society, if and when the opportunity presents itself as in this appeal. Allowing criminality and certificate forgery to continue to percolate into the streams, waters and oceans of our national polity would only mean our waters are and will remain dangerously contaminated.

“The purification efforts must start now, and be sustained as we seek, as a nation, to now ‘change’ from our old culture of reckless impunity. The Nigerian Constitution is supreme. It desires that no one who had ever presented forged certificate to INEC should contest election into Nigeria’s National Assembly.

“This is clear and sacrosanct. More compelling as a judicial determination had been taken by no less a technical panel sitting in, at least, a panel of three judges as Election Tribunal with constitutional mandate to determine such issues as they relate to elections and its outcomes, including eligibility.

“This has also been affirmed by the trial Court in this appeal. On these issues, our duty is to apply the Constitution and the law in its start, original form undiluted by ‘colourated’ interpretations.”

Festus Keyamo, SAN, taking to his then Twitter handle, @fkeyamo, once said that “if [one] present a forged WAEC or other certificate to INEC for any office [one] will be disqualified.”

He posted with a hashtag #OsunStateScenario on April 15, 2019, on Twitter:

“By the definition of “School Certificate or its equivalent” in section 318 of the 1999 const. u don’t need a WAEC certificate to become President or Governor, but if you present a FORGED WAEC or other certificate to INEC for any office you will be disqualified.”

A lawyer, seasoned political activist and author, Mr. Dele Farotimi, who prides himself in being passionate about the birth of a new and better Nigeria, however, expressed “zero” confidence on the Chief Judge of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Olukayode Ariwoola, “to deliver justice”.

Speaking on Arise News TV, he said:

“I repeat, I have zero trust in the capacity of the CJN to deliver justice,” adding, “it is up to the judiciary to decide whether it wishes to do justice. This is about building a society based on morality, equity, justice and even law.
