SSANU OAUSTECH confirms resumption of members, says Federal Government is expected to implement U3PS

The Olusegun Agagu University of Science and Technology chapter of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities, SSANU, has restated the Union’s unanimous decision to suspend its embarked upon three-month industrial action.

The chapter’s Chairman, Comrade Temidayo Temola on Tuesday affirmed that members of SSANU within the University had resumed to work as directed by SSANU national leadership.

The Chairman, who spoke to NewsBand Correspondent on Tuesday, reaffirmed that the Union suspended its strike action to give the federal government a chance of time to implement agreement it reached with the Union’s national leadership.

Mr. Temidayo explained that the joint action committee representing the demands of both NASU and SSANU opened a window of sixty days for the government to display its commitment.

“Our minimum wage that is supposed to be implemented, since April 2017 will be implemented” he said.

“We expect that in the next sixty days, the new circular for wage increase will be out.

“We expect that there will be clearcut route for funding state universities.

“We also expect that our duties, as laid down in the University scheme of services are adhered to by various managers of the University” he stated.

OAUSTECH SSANU Chairman howbeit expressed his optimism that the Federal Government will replace IPPIS with ‘University Peculiar Payroll Payment System’ (U3PS) as the payment platform with which they want to be paid.

“For those of our colleagues in the Federal Universities, we expect that the issue of fluctuation; the fluctuating payment of salary through IPPIS are addressed by replacing it with U3PS” he said.
