The South East region is poised to establish a local security outfit in the fashion of Amotekun of the South West region.

The President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Chief John Nnia Nwodo disclosed this on Thursday during “The Great Debate for National Unity” for the actualization of the 2023 Presidency of Igbo extraction.

The event, hosted by the Igbo Leadership Development Foundation [ILDF] kicked off at Ladi Kwali Hall, Sheraton Hotel, Abuja, on Thursday, March 5, 2020.

While delivering his highly motivating speech, which earned him a standing ovation, Chief Nwodo stated that Igbos will not fold their hands and watch any marauding band kill their citizens.

He, therefore, assured that a local security outfit in the fashion of Amotekun will be launched very soon in the South east region.

ElombahNews will release a video clip of his motivating speech very soon for public consumption.

Recall that recently, governors of the region had held a security summit at Enugu, during which they met with the Inspector-General of Police [IGP], Mohammed Adamu, to map out strategy to curb the growing insecurity in  the region.

During the meeting , Chief Nwodo had walked out of the meeting when the governors opted for community policing.

In a similar vein, during the Great Debate, fiery frontline human and environmental activist, Ms. Annkio Briggs also revealed that her region, the South South will also soon launch a security outfit, which, according to her, is long overdue.

In her words, “it is no longer a question of “if” there will be a security outfit but a question of “when” as it is long overdue.”
