A faction of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council [OYC] worldwide has alleged that Southeast leaders of the All Progressives Congress [APC] are afraid to campaign for President Muhammadu Buhari ahead of the 2019 general elections.

The Ohanaeze Youths made the allegation in a statement on Thursday sequel to a meeting held on January 9 in Abakiliki, Ebonyi State, with 49 affiliated groups and Biafra Agitators, chaired by their President-General, Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro.

The statement was signed by the Deputy President General, Comrade Obinna Achionye and Secretary General, Mazi Okwu Nnabuike.

The Youths said that “APC leaders in the Southeast had developed cold feet to openly Campaign for President Buhari in the Southeast because of the fear of being attacked by Youths especially Biafra Agitators”.

This, according to them, is irrespective of assurances given to President Buhari that they will deliver.

“Many of them had lost touch with Igbo voters because after many years of neglect and inaccessibility, they are receiving the rewards of telling President Buhari the truth and granting presidential pardon to Biafra agitators,” the statement said.

The youths, however, guaranteed safety of President Buhari and Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, whenever they will come to campaign in the Southeast.

According to them, “the Forum of Biafra agitators have assured us that nobody will be attacked during this campaign period, irrespective of Operation Python Dance.”

OYC also stressed that Igbo leaders are deceiving both President Buhari and Atiku as many of Igbo leaders can no longer influence Igbo votes in their polling units or Southeast in general since 2015 increased Biafra agitation.

They noted that many governors and senators rely on Biafra agitators and Ohanaeze Youths to win election , so President Buhari and Atiku should be aware that Igbo leaders failed PDP in last election.

They, meanwhile, postponed earlier proposed unveiling of presidential candidate till 20th January 2019.

This, they said, is because Igbo Youths still need President Buhari and Atiku to react to Igbo religious and traditional rulers on their sincerity of hand over power to an Igbo man in 2023.

OYC also applauded the abolition of Osu caste System on 28th Dec 2018 by Igbo traditional rulers at Nri Ancient kingdom.

The statement said that it “ends an obnoxious aged long Culture that had been practised for 200 Years where people who are banished or excluded from a society or community, a system where those banished (Ohu) are regarded as second class citizens as against Freeborn (Nwadiala), therefore are denied certain privileges enjoyed by the those who are freeborn.”

OYC promised to organize a homecoming/Freedom Fiesta  during 2019 Easter Celebration of all the people who were unjustly tagged Osu in and outside Southeast especially those who had lost their roots from Igboland, whether sold into slavery to Caribbean nations or other tribes in Nigeria.
