He said, “Today, thick darkness stormed the peaceful Lilu community in day time! It left on its trails blood and unpalatable terror! Today, some members of the Nigerian armed forces apparently on military operation reportedly killed two law abiding persons from Lilu: Mrs. Nwanoneze and Mr. Afamefuna Ezekulie. The said victims were killed while going about their lawful businesses. Mr. Afamefuna Ezekulie was shot straight at his heart in an execution-styled manner! The hopes of their families were thus smashed to smithereens with no human compassion!

“With a heavy heart, we mourn their unfortunate deaths with their respective families and dependents. No one deserves to die in the manner they did.

“Justice for the victims is the least we can demand from the government of Nigeria. Our laws must be immediately ignited to run its course against those that committed these heinous crimes against our people.

“Soldliers all over the world are made to adhere to rules of engagement in their military operations. There is never a time unarmed civilians are legitimate targets of military operations. This is because the success of any military operation is not measured by the blood of innocent civilians lost along the way!

“Consequently, we wish to inform the government of Nigeria that our people are traumatised enough by the rampant military operations going on in Lilu and its environs. Our own soldiers with whom we share the same national allegiance that ought to continually inspire hope and confidence in us should not continue to instigate despair, fear and trauma in us!

“We urge our people to remain calm and law-abiding as they always do. Efforts are already in place to legitimately seek justice for the victims and to avert further occurance.
