Soldiers arrest 140 thugs in Enugu

Soldiers providing security in Enugu State for the governorship and House of Assembly elections have reportedly arrested 140 thugs with arms and ammunition in the university town of Nsukka in the Nsukka Local Government Area.

Sources according to PUNCH said that the hoodlums were picked up at about 7:30 am on Saturday at a popular Carolina hotel, Nsukka.

Also, three hoodlums were arrested at the Independent National Electoral Commission office in Nsukka.

According to a security source, the thugs who were fully armed with weapons including AK-47 rifles have confessed to having been deployed by the chairman of the local government, Walter Ozioko.

Meanwhile, efforts to speak to Ozioko were unsuccessful as he could not pick up his call.
