Senator (Dr.) Ifeanyi Ubah, on Tuesday, November 23, 2021, along with other distinguished members of the Senate Committee on Judiciary, paid an oversight visit to the Nabo Graham Douglas Campus of the Nigerian Law School in Rivers State.

There, the Executive Governor of Rivers State, His Excellency, Chief Barr. Nyesom Wike personally took the visitors on a facility assessment tour around the ongoing expansive project.

Speaking on the visit, Senator Ifeanyi Ubah said:

“Legal education in Nigeria is in two phases, namely: the academic stage in the universities and the professional stage in the law school.

“Undoubtedly, the benefits of qualitative legal education at the professional stage (Law School) in Nigeria cannot be overemphasized because the pivotal role of lawyers and judges in the dispensation of justice in any society is one that demands a high standard of training.

“It is my earnest belief that the impressive and globally competitive structure being built by the Rivers State Government will address the infrastructural deficit and create an enabling environment for rapid reform of legal education in Nigeria so as to develop practice-ready lawyers who can contribute meaningfully to Nigeria’s judicial rebirth.

“As a member of the Nigerian Senate Committee on Judiciary, it is pertinent to highlight that our committee will also pay an oversight visit to conduct an “on the spot” assessment of the proposed Campus of the Law school in Okija, Ihiala LGA which falls under my Senatorial District; Anambra South.”

The senator representing Anambra South Senatorial District, commended the Governor of Rivers State and urged other state governors to emulate this gesture by providing infrastructure for Federal institutions in their respective states.
