Senate postpones further ministerial screening to October 27

The Senate has postponed further screening of ministerial nominees to Tuesday, October 27, when it resumes for plenary.

This came as the Senate finally screened former Governor of Rivers State, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi (Rivers); former Speaker, Bayelsa State House of Assembly, Heineken Lopkobiri (Bayelsa); Claudius Omoyele Daramola (Ondo); Baba Shehun Mustapha (Bornu) and Ocholi Enojo James (Kogi).

The screening of former Vice Chancellor, University of Ibadan, Prof. Isaac Adewole, a ministerial nominee from Osun State, earlier billed to be screened today, has been deferred to next week.

The Senate also suspended the screening of the ministerial nominee from Imo State, Professor Anthony Anwukah.

Elomba.com had published reports that Anwukah, President Buhari’s Ministerial nominee from Imo State has a case of fraud round his neck following his indictment by a government white paper on his tenure as Vice Chancellor of Imo State University, Owerri.

The white paper found Professor Anwukah, a former Secretary to the government of Imo State guilty of fraud.

A non-governmental organisation, Transform Nigeria Citizens Initiative [TNCI] on Friday, 16th October petitioned the Senate not to approve the ministerial nomination of Professor Anthony Anwukah
