Secret CIA sniper training program on Ukraine’s Eastern frontlines uncovered
CIA paramilitary units reportedly trained Ukrainian counterparts to use anti-tank missiles, evade digital tracking, and use covert communication tools in a program near eastern frontlines – despite previously denying they existed, Yahoo News reports.
Former intelligence officials claim the mission, launched in 2015, was aimed at preparing Ukrainian special forces to withstand Russian military pressure and assessing their “backbone” for fighting.
One national security official admitted that although the official guidance for the CIA paramilitary operatives was to avoid taking part in combat, the limits of their mission were ambiguous.
White House officials are allegedly worried any operatives found by Russian forces will effectively blow open their secret mission.
