Scary Joro giant spiders to fall from the sky across East Coast of America
Large Joro spiders were previously native to Japan but began to appear in the United States from 2013. This specific species can grow up to three inches long and is notable for its bold yellow, black, blue, and red markings.
The arachnids are expected to begin ‘ballooning’ and then ‘parachuting’ down the East Coast using ‘invisible’ webs as early as May.
Researchers have confirmed that they are harmless to humans as their fangs are too small to break our skin, but that isn’t going to calm the nerves of an arachnophobe caught under a shower of spiders.
