As the Rivers State leadership tussle crisis deepens, Governor Siminalaye Fubara has declared war against the former Governor, Mr. Nyesom Wike, sacking all his loyalists in and around the government.

Governor Fubara embarked on the move after the crisis between the two governors reached its crescendo on Monday with an attempted impeachment process on him.

News Band earlier reported that Fubara could be shown the way out of the Government House as the State House of Assembly commenced impeachment proceedings against him.

Members of the state House of Assembly signed the impeachment notice against the governor on Monday.

Further, his strong ally, Ehie Edison, was booted out of his position as the Majority Leader of the Rivers House of Assembly.

Edie was reportedly removed after he allegedly frustrated initial attempt to impeach the governor.

In another report, police operatives were seen firing water cannons directly at the governor alongside his supporters as the political war between him and his predecessor got messier.

Fubara was at the House of Assembly complex to address his supporters but came under sudden attack by the police drafted to forestall breakdown of law and order.

Apparently having had enough trouble for one day, the embattled governor decided to wield the big axe against his traducers.

First move was the impeachment of Rt. Hon. Martins Amaewhule, who is loyal to Nyesom Wike, as the Speaker by eight Rivers State House of Assembly members loyal to Governor Fubara.

Next move was the election of Rt. Hon. Ehie Edison as the Speaker of Rivers State House of Assembly after the removal of Rt. Hon. Amaewhule.

Then, in another move as one possessed by some cosmic powers, Rt. Hon. Edison suspended the Chief judge of the state, Justice Chibuzor Amadi and directed Governor Fubara to appoint an Acting Chief Judge in his stead.

But Fubara was not done with Wike yet.

He dissolved, with immediate effect, all the 23 Local Government Area Council Chairmen in the state.

He also sacked the Secretary to the State Government, as well as all the Commissioners, notwithstanding whether one is loyal to Wike or not.

Other officials that got the axe include the Chief of Staff, the Chief Security Officer to the governor redeployed, while the Chief Protocol Officer to the governor was kicked out.

More updates will be furnished as events unfold.
