Real Madrid wow Man City in extra time to reach Champions League final

Real Madrid’s Vinicius scores twice to stun Liverpool

Real Madrid celebrate after scoring a goal

La Liga reigning champions, Real Madrid on Wednesday night kicked out Manchester City to set up an European Champions League final against Liverpool.

The Spanish giants had seemed to be on their way out of Europe’s elite football competition when Mahrez fired the visitors into the lead to give them a two-goal cushion following their 3-2 victory at their Etihad Stadium fortress in England weeks ago.

But that was not meant to be as Madrid brought their Santiago Bernabau arena alive with two late goals to leave scores at 5-5 overall, thus stretching the match into extra time.

However, shortly into the first stanza of the extra time, Benzema struck from the penalty spot to leave the result at 3-1 and 6-5 aggregate to book a ticket to the final in Paris.

Madrid will slug it out with Liverpool, who defeated Villareal of Spain on Tuesday to make it into the final.
