Polls: Group hails Kalu on return to NASS ~ by Toby Chuks

A political pressure group known as Orji Uzor Kalu Grassroots Movement for Bola Ahmed Tinubu has hailed their principal and former Governor of Abia State Senator Orji Uzor Kalu for emerging the winner of Senatorial election in Abia North Senatorial District under the platform of the All-Progressive Congress (APC) in the just concluded National Assembly elections conducted nationwide last week Saturday.
Going by the victory, Senator Kalu who is also the Chief Whip of the Senate will retain the seat of Abia North in the Red Chambers of the National Assembly for another four years. The group in a congratulatory message forwarded to the Senate Chief Whip described his re-election back to the Senate as a well-deserved victory and of course a reward for good performance
The Convener and National leader of the group, Alhaji Murtala Mohammed alias ten ten who signed the message along with other top officials of the group noted that the former Abia Governor ranks as the best performing Senator in the 9th Senate thanking the good people of Abia North for rewarding their Senator with a second term mandate.
Presenting the copy of the congratulatory message to journalists, Alhaji ten ten said “let me use this opportunity to thank the Abia North electorates and also thank our members in Lopanta and Arochukwu for appreciating the performance of the Senate Chief Whip with their votes. They have done the needful by giving the cap to the one who deserves it”
Going further, the National President hurriedly tipped the former Abia Governor as the best choice to take over from Senator Ahmed Lawan as the next Senate President as according to him, Kalu has all it takes to head the 10th Senate of the National Assembly of the Federal Republic of Nigeria billed to be birthed by June this year.
Throwing more light on why the Senate Chief Whip should take over as Senate President, he described Senator Kalu as a detribilsed Nigerian, a competent political leader with massive experience in leadership of Nigeria adding that such a competent and experienced leader is most needed to head the National Assembly at this point in time for stability of the polity and overall progress of the country.
He said that picking Orji Uzor Kalu, a former Governor and a Christian from the Southeast as Senate President will balance the leadership structure of the incoming administration and help to serve as good response to the complaint of marginalization of the Southeast zone adding that Kalu as head of the National Assembly will muster the strength to address the issue of agitation for secession by Igbo youth.
Alhaji ten ten therefore called on relevant stakeholders such as Northern political leaders, Southeast, Southwest and South south political leaders including Ohanaeze Ndigbo, traditional rulers and religious leaders to support the making of the former Abia Governor the next Senate President.
