A policeman in Adamawa State has forced his way into a traffic-barred construction site in the state capital, Yola and knocked down three workers.

Witnesses said the man drove his car, a Peugeot 206 with registration number RBC 179 TT, into the site of a flyover and interchange being constructed at a busy junction incidentally called Police Roundabout because the place lies by the State Police headquarters in Yola.

Witnesses said the policeman, after knocking down the workers and injuring them, became frantic and shot severally into the air, scaring people away and driving out of the place.

The sources said the policeman had driven into the barricaded area of the construction site despite having been warned against such action by site security personnel.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Suleiman Nguroje, confirmed the incident.
