Abuja, April 1, 2025 — The Nigeria Police Force has escalated its nationwide fight against kidnapping and violent crimes, achieving remarkable success.
Recently, officers rescued 21 victims, recovered N4.8 million in ransom, and seized dangerous weapons.
These operations highlight the force’s unwavering commitment to restoring security across the country.
In Taraba State, a swift response by police and security agencies led to the rescue of 20 hostages on March 29, 2025. During a fierce gun battle along Takum/Mararaba Road, kidnappers abandoned their victims and fled. Authorities later found two injured victims, who are now receiving medical care. This operation underscores the effectiveness of coordinated efforts in combating crime.
Similarly, Kano State police successfully rescued Dr. Muhammad Bello Yushau after a 10-day investigation. Officers arrested six suspects, including Tukur Lawal and five accomplices, recovering a locally made rifle and N4.8 million in ransom money. Fortunately, Dr. Yushau was unharmed and reunited with his family. This breakthrough demonstrates the importance of thorough detective work.
Meanwhile, the Special Tactical Squad (STS) arrested Kafinta Musa, a notorious criminal linked to armed robbery and kidnapping. During his capture, police recovered an AK49 rifle loaded with ammunition. Investigations continue to track down his accomplices, ensuring further disruptions to criminal activities nationwide.
Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Dr. Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun praised the officers for their bravery and professionalism.
