Police begin probe into alleged poisoning of tourism minister

Police authorities in Abuja has ordered investigation into the alleged poisoning of the Minister of Tourism, Lola Ade-John, who has been hospitalised at the Federal Medical Centre.

The order was given by the federal capital territory commissioner of Police, Mr Haruna Garba.

Josephine Adeh, the spokesman of the command, revealed this on Saturday during an exclusive telephone interview with PUNCH.

“The CP has ordered the Mabushi Police Division that was investigating the matter to immediately transfer it to the SCID,” SP Adeh revealed.

Recall that it was reported on Friday that the Minister of Tourism, Lola Ade-John, has been hospitalised in the nation’s capital, Abuja, over alleged poisoning and was undergoing treatment at the Federal Medical Centre in Jabi, Abuja.

It reads, “Lola Ade-John, 60, was rushed to the Federal Medical Centre, Jabi, shortly after she started manifesting symptoms of her poisoning. She has spent four days at the facility as of Friday morning,” family sources familiar with Ade-John’s ordeal told Peoples Gazette.

“Ade-John, a banker and tech investor, has been on a machine to aid her breathing, adding that the specifics as to what substance she ingested and how could not be immediately ascertained,” said the report.
