Pakistan lawmakers are voting Monday for a replacement Prime Minister, after Imran Khan was ousted following nationwide and overseas rallies against so-dubbed “US-backed regime change.”

Khan went out of his way to thank his supporters for protesting against Washington seeking to have influence over Pakistan.

Khan became the country’s first-ever leader to suffer such a fate, while his PTI party have claimed all their MPs will quit en masse if their candidate, former Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi, isn’t elected.

However, opposition leader Shehbaz Sharif, who championed the no-confidence vote could be the most likely replacement.
