There seems to be no ending to the deluge of good news emanating from Kingsley Ozumba Mbadiwe University Ideato, as a staff donates books to the University.

In a ceremony attended by management and staff of the University on Wednesday at the Senate Building, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. I. N. S Dozie recieved a set of Law books from Barr. Obinna Igwe, who also is the Executive Assistant to the Vice Chancellor and Acting Coordinator of the Legal Unit.

In his presentation, Barrister Igwe stated that he was compelled by the passion and dedication of the University management ably led by Prof. Dozie to donate the books to equip the law library for the proposed Law Faculty.

In addition, he said that he was also driven by love and service to humanity to donate the books which would be useful to would-be students of the Law Faculty.

Stressing that these were the motivating factors that convinced him to part with the books which originally were part of his library while he was in private practice as a lawyer.

The Vice Chancellor in his remarks, stated that he recieved the books on behalf of the Visitor of the University, Distinguished Senator Hope Odidika Uzodinma.

He cited the issues of inadequate staff and library facilities as the key factors that initially denied the University the Nigerian Universities Commission (NUC) approval to commence a Law Faculty. ‘

He said that the donation would go a long way to complement management’s effort to equip the law library and to secure the NUC approval to commence a Law Faculty in the University.

Prof. Dozie referred to Barr. Igwe’s action as being patriotic and opined that the responsibility of education shouldn’t be abandoned to the government.

He called on well-meaning citizens to emulate Barr. Igwe and partner with government to develop the education sector.

He vowed that management will not rest on it’s oars untill the University achieves a level of global competitiveness and world class status. Read more.
