Chief Adebayo Adelabu, the Minister of Power has announced a significant improvement in the nation’s electricity supply.

He said over 40% of Nigerians now enjoy at least 20 hours of uninterrupted power daily.

This progress comes as part of the government’s ongoing efforts to revamp the power sector, which has long been riddled with inefficiencies and frequent blackouts.

While speaking during a recent press briefing, the minister attributed the improvement to the recent infrastructure upgrades, ongoing power generation initiatives, and strategic reforms across the electricity distribution companies (DisCos).

He highlighted that the government’s focus on diversifying energy sources, including solar and gas-powered plants, has started to bear fruit.

“These improvements are just the beginning,” the minister said, stressing that the government’s target is to expand the scope of reliable electricity to more regions of the country. He acknowledged that while the progress is commendable, there is still work to be done to ensure all Nigerians benefit from stable and affordable power supply.

Moreover, the increased power supply has been welcomed by businesses and households alike, with many expressing hope that the trend will continue and alleviate the country’s chronic energy challenges.
