Over 40 farmers lost their lives in a boat accident in Gummi Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
The sad incident occurred on Saturday morning when the farmers were en route to their fields.
According to media reports, the boat was carrying 53 farmers at the time of the accident, with only 12 survivors being rescued.
Meanwhile, President Bola Tinubu has expressed his condolences to the people and government of Zamfara State.
In a statement issued by his spokesman, Bayo Onanuga outlined Mr Tinubu’s commitment to supporting the victims of this incident and recent flooding in the area.
