All is not well in Idoma land, Benue State as Hausa/Fulani community has installed a Sardauna of Otukpo in the state.

The move by the Hausa/Fulani community has generated mixed reactions and caused palpable tension as many indigenous people of Benue conceives such move as an insult to the state.

However, reacting to the purported coronation, the deputy Governor of Benue state, Benson Abounu in a statement said, “The attention of His Excellency, the Deputy Governor of Benue State, Engr. Benson Abounu has been drawn to the proposed installation of one Bala Bello Muhammad as Sarduana of Otukpo, widely circulated on the social media.

“I have reached out to the Leader of Hausa Community in Otukpo, Alhaji Mamuda and informed him that there is nothing like SARDAUNA of OTUKPO in the Benue State Chieftaincy Laws of 2016.

Accordingly, the Deputy Governor directed Alhaji Mamuda to call off the intended coronation which he accepted to comply forthwith.
