Onnoghen: S/S Govs To Hold Emergency Meeting Sunday

The South-South Governor’s Forum has scheduled an emergency meeting on Sunday following the recent report of removal and arraignment of the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN) Justice Walter Onnoghen.

The Governor’s Forum disclosed this in a statement issued by Fidelis Soriwei, the Special Adviser on Media Relations to the Governor of Bayelsa State, Mr. Seriake Dickson.

According to the statement, issues to be deliberated, among other things, will be the recent development involving the Chief Justice of the Federation.

Also to be considered at the meeting would be the security structure of the Niger Delta, during and after the elections.

Also to be deliberated are the issue of derivation.

Governor Dickson, in the statement, expressed his opinion at the development in the Supreme Court involving CJN Onnoghen.

He said that he was yet to know the full details surrounding the developments at the Supreme Court concerning the CJN.

He, meanwhile, described it is a grave and dangerous escalation coming barely weeks to the general elections.

He said that the South-South governors would address a press conference after the meeting to convey the position of the zone to the Nigerian public.

The governor enjoined all and sundry to rise and prevent the subversion and desecration of the ethos of democracy as the general election approaches.
