The Abia State High Court, Umuahia was on Tuesday, September 21, jam-packed with heavily armed security agents following adjourned Nnamdi Kanu’s fundamental rights suit filed before the Abia State High Court by his Counsel, Aloy Ejimakor on 27th August, 2021.

The matter came up before the vacation judge, Justice KCJ Okereke.

Addressing the Media, Barrister Aloy Ejimakor could not hide his confidence in the strength of the Abia High Court to uphold the law by enforcing Kanu’s human rights.

Ejimakor lamented that “there is an unbroken chain of federal government’s violations of Kanu’s constitutional rights that started with the lethal military invasion of his home in Umuahia and his flight to safety in 2017 and his extraordinary rendition to Nigeria in late June 2021”.

At today’s hearing, it emerged that out of the eight respondents, only two – the DSS in Abuja and Umuahia – have filed their reply to the Suit but their processes were filed out of time.

Meanwhile, nothing was received from the other six respondents, which included the Federal Republic of Nigeria, the Attorney-General of the Federation and the Nigerian Army.

Also, present at the Court, was an apex Igbo socio-cultural Youth organization, Ohanaeze Youth Council, duly led by the National President, Comrd. Igboayaka O. Igboayaka, Barr. Okezie Obioma, Chairman, Ohanaeze Youth Council, Abia State Chapter, Barr. Amanda Kalu Legal Adviser,

Other members who appeared in court in solidarity with Mazi Nnamdi Kanu were; Comrd. Okonta Eugene Publicity Secretary, among others.

Speaking with the media, after observing the court proceedings, Comrd. Igboayaka stated that he had come to demonstrate solidarity of Ohanaeze Youths with Nnamdi Kanu in the Suit, in line with Igbo philosophy of “umunna bu ike”, “igwe bu ike”, “onyeaghala nwanne ya” and “girigiri bu ugwu eze”.

Igboayaka used the medium to send a stern warning to the Nigerian Government, against any attempt, whatsoever to use any government instrumentalism to avert justice to Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.

He insisted that “such will be resisted by over 30 million Igbo youth in the globe by every means necessary,” Igboayaka thundered.
