Bottom-line: There are obvious errors in the way we understand political leadership, the way we organised political leadership and the way we administer political leadership which we have to address immediately

 Preamble: The reality on ground

Generally looking at the Nigeria scene since the return of democracy in 1999, we cannot point to teething problems that have been solved or prevented by the political leadership; rather we see eruption of more teething problems such as terrorism, killer herdsmen, banditry and unknown gunmen. It is a fact that under the watchful eyes of political leadership from 1999, devil gave birth to Boko Haram terrorists, kidnapping, killer herdsmen, banditry, deadly cult groups, heartless ritualizes, rapists, barbaric human traffickers and unknown gunmen etc. Much so, the rates of other normal challenges like corruption, poverty, unemployment, bad roads, poor power supply, poverty, hunger, diseases and death remain on the high side as ever under successive democratic political leadership.

The point I am stressing is that, the political class in Nigeria lack vision, skill, capacity and commitment to change situation because they have continued to fail to change situation. Yes, they cannot manage our heritage properly. More so, they have failed to change the past, the present and certainly cannot change the future. Years after year, decades after decade, Nigerians all over the federation inherit the same teething problems and face the same teething future. Under 24 years of democracy, the situation clearly got worse.

One wonders why Nigerians believe that the incoming administration in 2023 under the same people will do wonders to change things overnight. According to records, those that put themselves forward for 2023 elections are not super stars and it is not over statement to argue that they won’t solve our problems if the errors identified here are not addressed. The bottom-line is that there are errors in the way we understand political leadership, in the way we organize political leadership and in the way we administer political leadership which we have to address. Let us identify the errors with a look at the pictures of those behind political leadership in the last 24years:

 The obvious errors

(1) They are selfish and weak to a large extent. A large chunk of them is notable with use and dump attitude and failure to fulfill promises. We can rarely point at anybody seeking to be elected into office in 2023 that hasn’t used and dumped a political party or used people and dumped them or hasn’t failed to fulfill promises. There is enough evidence to argue that most political office holders are not principled, not honest, not reliable, not competent and not capable enough to serve.

(2) They are entangled by negative characters, behavior and habits that impact negative on their performance while in office such as being addicted to lavish lifestyle, glutton, drinking, terribly bedridden with womanizing, stingy hands, arrogance, pride, unforgiving, terribly vindictive, terribly bedridden with hatred of one set of people or the other. Political positions are sacred in nature and should be devoid of negative characters, behavior and habits as listed above

(3) They are not foresighted, not creative, not innovative and not sophisticated enough to find fault, to be offensive and to appreciate, develop and enhance our heritage i.e. our substance, brands, gifts and talents into functions of possibilities. How has 24 years of democratic leadership in Nigeria under politicians impacted on what we have? …the inherent substance? The answer is poor. Very poor for that matter. Take for instance there is a lack of adequate water supply in Igboland where water lies in abundance. Quality food and vegetables we inherited in Igboland are facing extinction if not dead already because political leadership is ignorant of the economic value of what we have. Substantial agricultural produce that can be explored into many products like palm produce, cassava, yam and maize are not giving any attention. Cassava for instance can be used to manufacture a lot of things including Garri, starch, fluid and flour for baking bread etc. while maize and palm produce like kernel can be used for animal feed, cooking oil, soap, cream etc. What has political leadership done about this? Nothing

The worst is that good brand of human being like talented farmers, technicians, footballers, boxers, wrestlers and other athletes etc. are wasting away in the cities and villages around Nigeria.  As earlier noted, under democratic leadership with politician’s devil gave birth to kidnapping, Boko Haram terrorists, killer herdsmen, banditry and unknown gunmen with no end in sight because politicians cannot harness things into functions of possibilities

(4) They are lone rangers, not humble and not open to advice, not open to collaboration, not open to new ideas and knowledge, thus they lack middle point service such as people who can stand in the gap to. Play roles as allies, advisers, thinkers, researchers, planners and coordinators who can organize good vision that are solution oriented for them to enforce. Worst is that most of them are surrounded by wicked people that are good for nothing. King Pharoah of Egypt had middle pointers who confronted Moses with magic powers.

(5) They lack the sight and sound of the present world embedded in change and concept of globalization. Change is the only language that problems understanding. That’s why the developed countries keep changing things, changing the system, changing method, changing designs, changing the application, changing the outlook and everything. More so, globalization has reconstructed the world into a global village where people are expected to do everything, make everything and become everything regardless of the place they are. Globalization is about people being sufficient to the point of surplus and being positioned to face competition, to confront confronters and to dominate.  Since 1999, no political leadership had the vision to make Nigeria live in surplus, to face competition in Africa, to confront other economies and to dominate Africa in anything.

 My Fear

I have the fear that there is danger on hand over political expectations from 2023 elections. There is danger because the rate of expectations is very high but there is no mechanism for realization. The expectations is very high to the point that people advertently place priority on what they are merely expecting over beautiful things they have and wonderful things they do. People are carried away with what they feel they can derive from politics. But which political expectations have we realized from political leadership since Independent or since the return of democracy in 1999?

It is so sad to observe that some people overlook their beautiful heritage and wonderful works they do to face what they hope to derive from politics. Take for instance, some Christians place political leadership ahead of the beautiful things, great things and wonderful things that Jesus Christ represents. It is unfortunate that Christians mostly the leaders who are called to serve as middle pointers to change situation on one hand and on the hand stand as the last bus stop for solution are directly and indirectly aiding high political expectations that lack mechanism for realization

The danger ahead is that people are even ready to die for political expectations that are not possible to realize. The danger consequently has made it imperative for us to expose the obvious errors behind the failure political leadership in Nigeria. I crave your indulgence to look at the errors above and why the outcome of the 2023 general elections might not be able to live up to the expectations. And why we should avoid killing ourselves over political ambition of anybody or group

My appeal most especially to the youth

By introduction I am a journalist, author, Christian developer and preacher with emphasis on human liberation and change through message of repentance/conversion, iconoclastic reforms, brand and capacity building into globalization. I am a prophet by gift. I run things under moral code tagged: Divine Illumination. My priority is to contribute to the liberation and changing Nigeria as a people. I am inspired to expose the obvious errors surrounding the political sector in Nigeria with a view to let Nigerians once more to the path of former President Goodluck Jonathan that “no political ambition of anybody or group is worth blood of a human being”.

The message therefore, is to draw the attention of Nigerians on the need to allow peace to thrive during and after the elections. The most important thing is not just what comes out of the elections but also what follows the elections. If we follow the elections with violence, we get it wrong but if we follow the elections with programs, it will be right Take for instance, it is better for the youth to package programs on job creation and security and present to the eventual winners of the elections than to fight over the elections.

Let me assure the youth that there is a basketful of programs which cut across many areas like business, security, education, technology, sports, transportation, tourism and religion etc. We are going to present to the eventual winners of the elections for implementation and they will implement them.

Like i said earlier, political officer holders lack middle pointers. I want to assure the youth that we have everything it takes to correct the errors in our system and work as middle pointers to play the role of allies, advisers, thinkers, researchers, planners and coordinators. Not ignorant of the situation of things in the country, we are also going to device means to seek referendum to unbundle Nigeria and let everybody part ways if we find out that parting ways is the best option at the end of the day.

Once again, I beg you to share widely after reading

Sincerely Yours
