Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has officially approved the appointment of Prince Abimbola Owoade as the new Alaafin of Oyo. This decision follows the recommendation made by the Oyomesi, the esteemed kingmakers of Oyo Kingdom.
Moreover, the governor explained that Owoade was selected after extensive consultations and traditional divinations. “Prince Abimbola Akeem Owoade has been recommended by the Oyomesi, and his appointment has been approved,” the statement confirmed.
Additionally, Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Ademola Ojo, highlighted that this appointment resolves the legal and social disputes arising from the death of former Alaafin Oba Lamidi Adeyemi III on April 22, 2022.
“This decision has effectively put to rest all socio-legal controversies since the late Oba Adeyemi’s transition,” Ojo stated. He urged the people of Oyo State to support the new Alaafin and celebrate this historic moment.
Finally, the Seyi Makinde government expressed optimism that Prince Abimbola Owoade’s reign will usher in peace, unity, and prosperity for Oyo Kingdom.
