The Ambassador of the Royal Kingdom of Netherlands to Nigeria, Mr. Robert J. Petri, has emphasized the Netherlands’ commitment to growing Nigeria’s economy.

Mr. Petri expressed concern over the recent World Poverty Clock statistics and the Brooklyn report which placed Nigeria on the top, implying the country to be the poorest country in the world.

Petri said they hope to this achieve through their various contributions to agriculture, economic sustainability, peace and security across Nigeria.

Addressing the embassy’s approach to contributing to Peace and Security in Nigeria, Mr. Petri said:

“We believe very much in dialogue as a model to a peaceful coexistence. In fact, we love to dialogue with people who do not agree with us.

“Here at the Dutch Embassy, our programmes involve private sectors both in Nigeria and in the Netherlands to boost small businesses.

“We also work closely with the universities and research centers in areas of agriculture to address some of the hindrances to economic sustainability.” Ambassador Petri said.

The Ambassador stated this when he hosted a group of young people on the platform of the Nigeria Youths SDGs Network at the Netherlands Embassy for the August edition of the monthly SDGsStory Hangout on Thursday, August 31st, 2018.
