NCC donates 100 e-pads to K.O Mbadiwe University, as Digital Bridge Institute trains 100 staff on digital literacy

The Nigerian Communication Commission (NCC) has donated 100 e-pads and associated accessories to Kingsley Ozumba Mbadiwe University in Ideato, Imo State.

In a letter to the Vice-Chancellor, Professor I.N.S. Dozie, under reference: NCC/PD/SIP/OA/09/21/028 dated December 14 2021, Professor Umar Danbatta, Executive Chairman/CEO Nigerian Communication Commission wrote that the donation was made under the Commission’s Digital Economy/Advanced Digital Appreciation Programme for Tertiary Institutions (ADAPTI) aimed at improving the digital skills of staff and students of the institution to contribute their quota in the emerging Nigerian digital economy.

In a related Development, the Digital Bridge Institute (BDI), a subsidiary of Nigerian Communication Commission has trained 100 staff of the institution on basic ICT Office productivity tools, including the intranet, internet, use of e-teaching and e-learning facilities etc. The 5-day training commenced on Tuesday May 10, 2022.

It is notable that the University in discharge of her Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) to the host communities included 20 graduate participants drawn from the five (5) host communities of Ogboko, Umuchima, Obioha, Umuesi and Oguma to benefit from the training.

This training was aimed at improving ICT skills of staff thus enabling them to translate the acquired knowledge and skills into improved teaching and work performance.

The Vice-Chancellor, Professor I.N.S. Dozie had on behalf of the Governor of Imo State and Visitor to the University, His Excellency Senator Hope Uzodimma, Senate, Staff and Students of the institution expressed deep appreciation to NCC and DBI for their kind gestures to the young institution.

He has also appealed to Imo citizens and other Nigerians to support the efforts of government through various donations aimed at improving the instructional and physical facilities in the institution.
