The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has successfully eliminated over 100 terrorists at the Kuka Shidda camp in Faskari local government Area of Katsina State.
This operation was part of the ongoing efforts by Operation Hadarin Daji troops to tackle terrorist activities in the region.
The airstrike specifically targeted a notorious criminal group linked to terrorist kingpin Yusuf Yellow and his associate Rabe Imani.
According to Ibrahim Kaula, the spokesman for the Katsina State governor, the operation also resulted in the destruction of over 45 motorcycles used by the terrorists.
This marks the third successful air raid by the Nigerian Air Force in the Faskari-Kankara axis recently, significantly disrupting the bandits’ operations in the area.
In a related development, a quick response from security forces thwarted a kidnapping attempt early Sunday morning in Jibia Local Government Area. The timely intervention led to the rescue of three victims.
“A credible police source disclosed that a distress call was received around 4:15 am regarding the abduction of residents in the Kwata area of Jibia. A Supol-led APC patrol team responded immediately, arriving to find armed bandits holding three women captive,” Kaula said.
The swift action of the patrol team blocked the kidnappers’ escape route, leading to a confrontation. A gunfight ensued, forcing the criminals to flee. The rescued victims, Ummulkhari Abubakar (23), Shafa’atu Abubakar (35), and Maryam Lawal (15), were unharmed. Among the rescued was a six-month-old baby boy, Ismail Usman.
The security forces exercised commendable restraint, using only 14 rounds of ammunition and 20 smoke canisters during the operation.
Kaula stressed that these successful operations send a strong message to criminal elements that such acts will not be tolerated.
He highlighted the unwavering commitment of the NAF and local law enforcement to protecting Katsina State’s citizens from criminal activities.
