More trouble for Tinubu as Elnora Daniel may be subpoenaed to testify if she signed his “fake” certificate
More trouble may be looming in the horizon for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as Dr. Elnora D. Daniel may be subpoenaed to testify if she signed a certificate purportedly issued by the Chicago State University (CSU) but believed to be fake and domiciled with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
It could be recalled that on June 17, 2022, Tinubu submitted a Chicago State University certificate to INEC that he swore was issued to him in 1979 and signed by one Elnora Daniel.
See a Certified True Copy (CTC) of the purported Chicago University certificate Tinubu submitted to INEC, dated “22nd June, 1979″, below:
Available data, however, shows that Ms. Daniel only arrived at CSU in 1998 from Hampton University and, thereafter, left on June 30, 2008, amid a corruption scandal.
Meanwhile, find below another copy of the same certificate dated “27th June, 1979″, purportedly signed by the same Elnora Daniel, below:
Reacting to the curious development, a source, who spoke to News Band in confidence, thought it impossible that Daniel, who was only the president of the university between 1998 and 2008, could have signed the certificate from the university way back in 1979, nearly 20 years after.
The source said: “It was not possible for Elnora D. Daniel to be among those who signed both certificates because she was only the president of the university between 1998 and 2008.
“She was neither president of the university in 1979 – when the certificate was purportedly issued – nor was she president in 2022, when replacement certificates were issued.”
During hearing at the U.S District Court, Northern Illinois, on Tuesday, September 12, 2023, before Judge Jeffrey Gilbert in Chicago, CSU lawyer Michael Hayes categorically stated that the school was not in a position to authenticate Tinubu’s certificate as either fake or genuine.
His position, however, contradicts that of the school’s previous assertions that it issued a certificate to the Nigerian politician after he graduated in 1979.
“Is the diploma authentic or is it a forgery? My client can’t answer yes to either of those questions,” Mr Hayes said at the hearing in Chicago that began at about 1:3o p.m. (local time) and lasted several hours in the lawsuit brought by Atiku Abubakar, Tinubu’s main challenger for the February 25 presidential election.

In the meantime, additional data obtained by News Band says that Elnora Daniel, the former president of Chicago State University, resigned after she was criticized for controversial spending practices.
Before her departure, she signed off on the publication of a coffee-table book honoring herself before she left office June 30, according to the Chicago Tribune.
The glossy, 52-page book cost $18,000 and was paid for out of the university president’s account.
It features photos of Chicago State University offering Daniel the presidency in 1998 and she accepted.
She went on to serve as both the president and the CEO of CSU.
Meanwhile, in another development, a former presidential aide to former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan and Publisher of Point Blank News, Mr. Jackson Ude, has claimed that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu was banned from entering Chicago, the United States of America, for ten years over crimes related to drug trafficking and bank fraud while he was living in the city.
ingMr. Ude, citngi an “informant”, revealed that “Tinubu was banned from entering Chicago for ten years following series of crimes which included drug crimes and bank fraud in the city of Chicago, after which he moved to the Virginia area of the United State.
