A 45-year-old Indonesian man has reportedly killed his 60-year-old neighbour because he used to constantly ask him why was he not married at this age.

The incident occurred on July 29 in South Tapanuli regency, North Sumatra, as reported by the Straits Times.

The victim, identified as Asgim Irianto, was allegedly attacked by his neighbor, Parlindungan Siregar, who had grown increasingly frustrated with Irianto’s persistent inquiries about his single status.

According to Assistant Police Commissioner Maria Marpaung, Siregar’s irritation boiled over, leading to the violent confrontation.

Statements from Irianto’s wife reveal that Siregar arrived at their home armed with a piece of wood and launched a sudden and brutal assault on Irianto.

The victim attempted to escape into the street, but Siregar pursued him and struck him fatally on the head. Even after Irianto collapsed, Siregar continued the attack until other residents intervened.

Emergency responders were called to the scene, and Irianto was rushed to the hospital. Unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries before reaching the medical facility.

Siregar was promptly arrested by authorities. Investigators suspect that the motive behind the attack was directly linked to Siregar’s frustration over Irianto’s repeated questions about his marital status.

The investigation into the incident is still ongoing as authorities work to piece together the full details of the case.
