An Abuja based legal practitioner and notary public, Vincent Adodo has called on the Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA) to immediately commence repairs of a failed portion of the Abuja-Keffi Expressway along Nyanya – Abacha road axis of the border area of the Federal Capital Territory and Nasarawa State.

In a letter dated the 21st September 2022 addressed to it’s Director General (Managing Director) and made available to News Band, the public Interest lawyer invited the attention of the agency to the situation of the affected portion of the Abuja – Keffi expressway which as stated in the letter is on the left lane of the road (when coming from Abuja), after Nyanya checkpoint exactly at the turning leading to the Federal Road Safety Office.

The lawyer stated that the failed portions have created potholes which obstruct the free movement of vehicles on the road and which consequently occasion traffic congestion usually between Akwa Ibom Transport Company office and the Road Safety junction:

“This portion of the road having been dilapidated is no longer motorable and has created potholes which obstruct the free movement of vehicles and in turn causes heavy traffic jam usually between the Akwa Ibom State Transportation Company office in Abacha road through the Road Safety Office junction as earlier mentioned. Picture of the failed portion of the road and the traffic situation are annexed.”

Having noted that the traffic problem of the Nyanya – Mararaba axis is already taking its toll on the users of the road and residents of the area, the lawyer called on the Director General of FERMA to mitigate the inconvenience and suffering the residents of the Nyanya – Mararaba area and the general public are subjected to by ensuring that the agency commences immediate repairs of the failed portion of the road.
