Labour Party changes convention venue to Nnewi
The Labour Party of Nigeria has changed the venue of its planned national convention to Nnewi, Anambra State.
The change was disclosed in a notice jointly signed on Saturday by the embattled National Chairman of the party, Barrister Julius Abure, and its National Secretary, Umar Ibrahim.
The notice which was addressed to the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Professor Yakubu Mahmood, noted that the convention would now be held at Grand Season Hotel, Nnewi, Anambra State on March 27, 2024.
Labour Party had earlier slated the national convention for March 29 in Benin City, the Edo State capital, but shifted the date and venue to March 27 at the International Conference Centre in Umuahia, Abia State capital following series of face-off with the leadership of the Nigerian Labour Congress.
The notice read, “We write to kindly refer you to our letter on the above subject matter in which our National Convention rescheduled for 27th of March 2024 at the International Conference Center Umuahia, Abia State.
“We are however constrained to change the venue as a result of the non-availability of the proposed venue on the scheduled date. We hereby inform you of the new venue for the convention as follows; Venue: Grand Season Hotel, Nnewi, Anambra State. Date: 27th of March 2024.”
