The suspected kidnappers of the Prelate of the Methodist Church of Nigeria, His Eminence Bishop Samuel Kanu Uche, have reportedly been arrested by security operatives, according to an anonymous information sent to News Band newsroom.

Also arrested alongside the kidnappers, according to the report, were three soldiers of the Nigerian Army and some Fulani Herdsmen, as well as some indigenes of Leru In Umunneochi of Abia State believed to be connected with kidnappings in the area.

According to the informant, the arrest was effected when one of the suspected kidnappers went to deposit his share of the booty from the one hundred million Naira ransom collected from the Prelate in a bank.

Meanwhile, it could be recalled that this medium reported on May 30, 2022, how the Methodist Church Prelate was, on a Sunday, abducted along Enugu-Port Harcourt Expressway, in Umunneochi Local Government Area of Abia State.

He was kidnapped alongside Rt. Rev. Dennis Mark, the Methodist Bishop of Owerri and the Prelate’s Chaplain by gunmen.

Sources said that the clergymen were kidnapped in broad daylight while they were on their way from a programme in the council area.

The clergymen were later released after N100 million was paid as ransom, according to Uche who spoke at a press conference in Lagos.
