Finidi George

Barely two months after his appointment as the Super Eagles coach, Finidi George has reportedly resigned from his role as the head coach of Nigeria’s national football team.

The sudden resignation is coming after the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) on Thursday announced plans to bring in a foreign technical adviser, which is believed to have triggered Finidi’s choice to step down.

His resignation was confirmed by former Eagles media officer, Toyin Ibitoye, via his social media account.

Toyin said, “Breaking News: Finidi George @FinidiGeorge_FG has resigned from his @NGSuperEagles manager position,” Ibitoye tweeted.

Meanwhile, Finidi who took over the coaching baton on April 29, 2024, following the expiration of Jose Peseiro’s contract, had a brief tenure marked by a 1-1 draw against South Africa and a 2-1 defeat to Benin Republic in the 2026 World Cup qualifying matches.
