Mr. Johnbosco Uche has been inaugurated as the 47th President of the Nigerian Association of Petroleum Explorationists (NAPE).
The investiture ceremony took place during NAPE’s 42nd Annual International Conference and Exhibition, held at the Eko Hotel & Suites in Lagos, Nigeria.
This year’s conference centered around addressing the Nigerian Energy Trilemma, with a focus on achieving energy security, sustainable growth, and affordability.
NAPE is the largest professional association of geoscience and upstream professionals in Nigeria and Africa. Members include geologists, geophysicists, CEOs, managers, consultants, students and academicians.
NAPE’s annual conference has established itself as the premier event for the oil and gas industry in Nigeria and sub saharan Africa, providing a platform for professionals to share knowledge, network and address critical industry challenges.
Who is Johnbosco Uche?
Johnbosco Uche, FNAPE, is the current Geosolutions Manager and Chief Geophysicist for Shell Nigeria.
He obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in Geological Science from Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka, and a Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) from Edinburgh Business School, Heriot-Watt University, Scotland.
Johnbosco has acquired over 24 years of technical and business leadership experience in the energy industry working for Shell, CONOIL Producing, and Halliburton.
His career at Shell has seen him take on several key roles, including Senior Portfolio Analyst at SPDC, Senior Exploration Geoscientist in the Netherlands, Team Lead Central North Sea Exploration in the United Kingdom, Deepwater Exploration Manager at SNEPCo, and Energy Transition Business Opportunity Manager for Shell Companies in Nigeria.
However, in his new role as president of the Association, Johnbosco has promised to ensure that NAPE continues to play a vital role in the Energy Transition conversation.
His strategic objectives include: fostering industry- academia collaborations to promote research-driven solutions to today’s energy challenges; deepen NAPE’s advocacy with the Legislative and Executive arms of government to promote policies that positively impact the industry.
Furthermore, he intends to create more opportunities for capacity building and learning, so as to ensure that members derive tangible value from the association.
Driven by his passion for nurturing home grown talent, he pioneered the innovative NAPE Mentoring Circles, a platform for empowering emerging leaders in the oil and gas industry.
Johnbosco is a Subject Matter Expert on Energy Transition strategies.
He is a Fellow of NAPE and a registered member of the American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG), Society of Exploration Geophysicists (SEG), and Petroleum Exploration Society of Great Britain (PESGB).
