Presidency has stated that the compulsory Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System (IPPIS) will expose many lecturers with multiple full time Jobs.

President Muhammad Buhari had ordered for suspension of civil servants who fail to register for IPPIS before the end of October.

But, the Academic Staff Universities Union (ASUU) kicked against the directive saying it is against autonomy of Nigerian University.

However, An aide to Buhari, Laureta Onochie said, “The reason ASUU is fighting the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System (IPPIS) is that many Lecturers dash from one university to another as full time Lecturers. The IPPIS will expose those with multiple full time jobs.

“A University Lecturer should be committed to one Institution that pays him monthly. He can support another university on a small scale as a consultant. Working full time in many universities at a time, is the reason they churn out graduates with no skills. There’s no commitment.”
