In a Radio Biafra announcement monitored in Abuja Monday 20 November 2017 morning, Mazi Ezenachukwu Sampson Okwudili the new Director of Radio Biafra and leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) congratulated Anambra’s Governor, His Excellency Willie Obiano for his reelection on Saturday.  The group also mourned the transition of the “icon of the Igbo race”, His Excellency, Dr Alex Ekwueme, who died in London on Sunday.

Mazi Okwudili had weeks ago announced the sacking of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu as both the Director of Radio Biafra and the leader of IPOB.

Monday morning, Okwudili announced on the London-based  that  “it is with heart full of joy that i felicitate first with the elected governor of Anambra state Chief Willie Obiano whose mandate has been renewed to govern the good people of Anambra  state for another four years.

This, no doubt, shows the level of trust Anambrarians have placed on him, especially as the result coming from all the Local Government Areas of state, show that the governor won handsomely everywhere.  This is an uncommon mandate which Chief Obiano ought to guard jealously. Worthy of note is his extension of hand of love to all the other candidates who contested  with him. All must join hands to build Anambra state to be truly worthy of the name “Light of the nation”.

The great people of Anambra state are the greatest beneficiaries of this continuity in government and must be given kudus.  They defied all odds including intimidation, vote buying, cajoling and all sorts of harassment and still went out to exercise your franchise by electing the governor of your choice. We applaud your spirit of democracy.  We also applaud the roles played by the security operations, the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC for the November 18th election which the international observers have adjudged to have been free and fair.

We also applaud our great IPOB members.  You left no one in doubt that the dubious and corrupt regime of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu has been buried and forgotten.  You played your part in making the election a huge success instead of disrupting it as previously canvassed by Mazi Kanu and his band of negative-minded people  with dubious intentions  who wanted to goad our people toward calamitous and deadly confrontations that would have brought no benefits to our people . We shall continue this path of democracy, peace and non-violence until that day when that glorious “half of a yellow sun” will rise again. Until that day let the struggle continue”!

On Dr Ekwueme, Radio Biafra announced that “ Ekwueme was the typical example of the true Igboman; an incandescent brain that earned five degrees in different fields of study and emerged one of the best architects Nigeria has ever produced. The bold Ekwueme led the Group of 34 eminent Nigerians that met the late Gen. Sani Abacha at Aso Rock Presidential Villa and asked him to hand over power to civilians. He will be ever remembered with pride”
