The Political Wing of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB-PW) has strongly denounced the recent violent attack by terror herdsmen in Amegu Nkalagha, Ishielu, Ebonyi State.

In a statement released by its spokesperson, Nwachukwu Emereonye, the group described the assault as “despicable and wicked,” while urging immediate action to bring the culprits to justice.

The attack, which occurred on Sunday, left 16 villagers dead and several homes destroyed.

Tragically, it took place on a day when many residents were either attending church services or working on their farms.

This timing exacerbated the community’s vulnerability, leaving them unable to defend themselves against the unprovoked violence.

Furthermore, the assailants razed yam barns to the ground, compounding the devastation by depriving the community of essential food reserves.

As a result, displacement has left many residents facing the dual challenges of hunger and homelessness.

The scale of destruction has left the once-thriving village in ruins, with survivors grappling with immense loss.

Reacting to the incident, IPOB-PW called on the executive Governor of Ebonyi State, Mr. Francis Nwifuru, to take decisive action.

The group emphasized the need to identify and apprehend those responsible for the carnage, ensuring they face the full weight of the law.

They also highlighted the importance of protecting vulnerable communities from similar attacks in the future.

In conclusion, IPOB-PW reiterated its commitment to advocating for justice and safeguarding the rights of indigenous people.

The group urged both state and federal authorities to prioritize security measures in rural areas, preventing further tragedies of this nature.

The statement, “We condemn the attack by marauding herdsmen

“This is totally unacceptable, and the perpetrators of this heinous crime must not go scot-free.

The State government must pursue them and hold them accountable for their deadly actions, wherever they are.

Our hearts ache with sorrow and pain as innocent lives were cut short simply for being Nigerian citizens.

Never again shall our people’s blood be spilled while perpetrators roam free; the police must act swiftly to ensure justice for the victims’ families.”

Furthermore, we remind the governor that Southeast insecurity began under the pretext of fighting Fulani killers. We urge both the governor and federal government to demonstrate seriousness in arresting these massacre perpetrators.

IPOB-PW cannot influence youths toward peace if the government fails to apprehend terrorists and their sponsors.

While we strive for a peaceful Southeast, the government must address triggers of violence and deter non-state actors from taking laws into their own hands.

However, IPOB-PW urges affected communities to avoid self-help and allow the State government to handle the situation decisively.

We call for patience, confident that the government will confront this menace and bring the perpetrators to justice.
