Reports confirm that Kachalla Dogo Isah, a notorious bandit leader responsible for multiple attacks in Kaduna State, is dead.

The violent clash occurred with a rival faction in Kachia Forest on January 7, 2025.

Intelligence sources informed Zagazola Makama that Dogo Isah and his gang attempted to rustle cattle from a camp led by repentant bandit leader Kachalla Musa. The deadly confrontation ensued.

Dogo Isah, infamous for terrorizing Kachia and parts of Kajuru LGAs, was Tukur Sharme’s cousin.

In September 2024, Sharme, a different bandit leader, perished during a related confrontation. Consequently, this event escalated tensions significantly.

The violent confrontation led to the deaths of Dogo Isah and two gang members in an exchange of gunfire with Kachalla Musa’s group. Recently, Kachalla Musa and his faction accepted a peace initiative from Kaduna State’s government and security agencies.

A meeting in Tsohon Gaya village, Chikun LGA, promoted the initiative, encouraging former bandits to surrender and end hostilities.

However, Dogo Isah rejected the offer and continued his criminal activities, including cattle rustling and violent attacks.

Dogo Isah’s group was responsible for several high-profile attacks in the region.

In 2022, members of the 305 Artillery Demo Regiment died in Makaranta Forest, Kagarko LGA, highlighting ongoing violence.

Additionally, an officer from the defunct Sect 4 OPWP lost his life near Gadan Mallam village along the Abuja-Kaduna Road.

More recently, Dogo Isah’s group attacked Nigerian Navy personnel at a checkpoint in Kujama on January 5, 2025. This attack resulted in the deaths of two Navy personnel and the theft of their AK-47 rifles.

Dogo Isah’s death considerably affects insurgent actions in Kaduna State. Nevertheless, it heightens worries among Kachalla Musa’s recent converts.

While Isah’s passing undermines insurgency operations, it stirs anxiety among those who recently abandoned their loyalty to Kachalla Musa.

There is apprehension that Dogo Isah’s remaining followers may seek to retaliate, potentially destabilizing the fragile peace in the region.

Photos of Dogo Isah and two of his gang members at the scene of the incident have been obtained from sources and are being circulated for public awareness.
